The hospital receives a great amount of support from the community through the many volunteers who donate their time
and energy to increasing the quality of living for the residents.
Volunteer Programs include:
Entertainment
Come and practice your musical instrument, your singing or dancing skills. Our residents make a great audience.
Friendly Visitor
Come and share some special time with a resident. A social link with the local community can make such a difference to our residents. Come and play cards, read a book, write a letter or just have a friendly chat.
Gift
Shop - Sales
If you like working in retail, volunteers are needed in the gift shop which is open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 7 days/week.
Meal Companion
Inservice training by the Dietician is given to all volunteers. Nursing staff direct volunteers to assist those residents who are able to eat safely.
Outings
Some residents may need an escort to an appointment on the HandyDART bus. You can also go with them on the MSM bus trips or take a resident for an outing in their wheelchair.
Pastoral/Palliative Care
Provide emotional support and practical assistance as well as be a caring listener, to residents and their families.
